All About People makes it their mission to give back...
This year, All About People will sponsor one of the nation's elite charity events, Celebrity Fight Night. Throughout Celebrity Fight Night's twelve year history over $38 million has been raised with the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute as the primary beneficiary.
Activities of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center are funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The growth and success of the Center over the past year is due in part to the Celebrity Fight Night Foundation. As a result of Celebrity Fight Night, the Center was able to launch the Ali Care program. "Ali Care" reflects the commitment of Muhammad Ali to all people, regardless of ability to pay, to have access to treatment, medications, and therapies needed to manage Parkinson's disease. Through Ali Care, the Center was able to help those patients who do not have insurance or financial resources to pay for treatment.
Fighting for Cystic Fibrosis...
Out of 20 couples nominated in Arizona, the Mitchells were one of five couples chosen as "Arizona's Outstanding Professional & Philanthropic Couples" in 2005. They were chosen amongst the most prominent and successful couples across the state. The couples chosen exemplify leadership qualities, are active in volunteer roles and have excelled in the Arizona business, political, and philanthropic community.
Cystic Fibrosis is the #1 genetic killer of children and young adults in the United States. At present, it is a fatal disease caused by a defective gene that produces an abnormally thick, sticky mucus, which clogs the airways and eventually leads to life threatening lung infections. The thick CF mucus also obstructs the pancreas, preventing enzymes from reaching the intestines to break down and digest food. Each couple was challenged with raising money for the CF family. Raising money to help find a cure that will spare any human the pain of losing a child or a loved one is much more important to the Mitchells than being recognized for being a successful philanthropic couple.
